Feature films have given many around the world their visions of the past in recent times: whether of wars, slavery, the holocaust or individual lives. Yet these influential accounts remain strangely marginal to academic historical discussion, beyond occasional review of their inaccuracies. Using film sequences, this talk suggests that feature film history should be taken more seriously in the academy. This talk is part of the Wolfson College Humanities Society talks series.
