Abstract
Synchronous privilege checks are the norm in existing distributed security infrastructures. This talk presents initial work on asynchronous revocation using publish/subscribe middleware. Our goal is to explore the trade-off between synchronous RPC and back-channel revocation. The former induces higher response latency and a larger number of messages on the wire, while the latter carries the risk that security messages do not propagate sufficiently quickly. We have implemented a simple distributed auction application to test and validate the pub/sub infrastructure, with a view to applying it to CareGrid and the upcoming Smart Flow project.
Series This talk is part of the Computer Laboratory Opera Group Seminars series.
