If you have a question about this talk, please contact . Elliptic curves have played a central role in numerous developments in pure mathematics, from geometry, number theory, to applications in cryptography. I will give a lightning introduction to these beautiful structures, and will explain more recent applications in string theory, where elliptic curves play a key role, in particular in modeling particle physics.
