If you have a question about this talk, please contact Olivia Nicoletti. We are proud to announce that the 2013 CUEN Annual Conference on Smart Cities and Smart Energy will be held on Tuesday the 18th of June, at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, University of Cambridge. In a world of continuous urbanization, cities are an essential part of a sustainable energy system and a sustainable future more generally. Local governments around the globe strive for a thriving economy, high quality of life and a reduced environmental impact. But individual infrastructure systems are not sufficient to keep up with recent developments. Meeting the challenge of increasing populations and increasingly scarce resources requires new, diverse and smart solutions. In four sessions, the conference will therefore address smart cities, urban planning, smart materials and energy storage and smart grids. In bringing together professionals, academics and students with a common interest in the design of a smart energy future, this conference aims to inform, inspire and facilitate interaction between people whose diverse skills will play a fundamental role in this meaningful area. The event is also intended for people with a general interest in energy, opening up a discussion between different points of view on the topics of smart cities and smart energy.
