Decarbonisation, whilst essential, is no longer sufficient to prevent the some of the worst effects of global warming and the impacts of climate change are already being felt. In the Arctic sea ice is melting at an astonishing rate putting Inuit communities across the Arctic, along with wildlife such as polar bears and reindeer, at severe risk. But there is perhaps some hope, the talk will describe research on whether it is possible to thicken Arctic sea ice, thereby preserving it whilst we reduce global temperatures.
