If you have a question about this talk, please contact Stephen Walley. Energetic materials are widely used in civilian and military applications. Due to the hazardous nature of energetic materials their production, storage and use attracts more regulation and qualification than most other materials. This has resulted in two trends: (1) the intense study of specific compositions as actively produced and (2) a conservative approach to material introduction. The combination of these two factors means that this material type, generally under the umbrella of UN Hazardous Materials Type 1, are subject to steady on-going research. This talk will attempt to put these materials in context and also identify some trends in current developments. This talk is part of the Physics and Chemistry of Solids Group series.
