If you have a question about this talk, please contact Dr Sandra Petrus-Reurer. Snakes are among the most diverse vertebrates on the planet, with over a thousand species inhabiting tropical regions of the Americas. However, the origin of this diversity remains relatively unexplored. My research objectives include the description of recently discovered fossils in northern South America and an exploration of the factors driving the diversification of neotropical snakes. This investigation will utilize the fossil record and its correlation with significant palaeoclimatic and paleogeographical events. This talk is part of the Darwin College Science Seminars series.
