If you have a question about this talk, please contact Matthew Kenzie. The NASA Frontier Development Lab (FDL) is an eight-week programme bringing together interdisciplinary teams to apply machine learning techniques to solve some of the toughest problems in space science. The challenges include lunar localisation, exoplanet classification, and even searching for life beyond the solar system. In this talk, Dr Fawcett shares his experience at FDL , discusses the benefits of interdisciplinary research teams, and outlines opportunities to contribute skills from High Energy Physics to space exploration. Intertwined is the use of machine learning techniques, which show great promise for the future of space exploration. This talk is part of the Cavendish HEP Seminars series.
