Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences

Add to your list(s) Send you e-mail reminders

One of the University’s many hidden treasures, and actually its oldest museum, the Sedgwick has more than one million fossil, rock and mineral specimens in its collections. These range from the earliest forms of life from more than 3,000 million years ago, to the wildlife that roamed the Fens less than 150,000 years ago. The Museum was built in memory of Adam Sedgwick and started with Dr John Woodward’s bequest of his fossil collection in 1728 (still on display in its original cabinets).
