Financial Market History: Reflections on the Past for Investors Today, a new book edited by David Chambers and Elroy Dimson of Cambridge Judge Business School, contains many lessons for modern investors from the history of financial markets – ranging from stock market bubbles and episodes of currency speculation to the long-term returns from investing in the stock market.

In this Business Briefing, Professor Elroy Dimson will present some key themes from the book, which is divided into four main sections: historical risks and returns on various assets, the development of stock markets, bubbles and crises, and the role of innovation in financial markets.

Professor Dimson will also discuss some of his other research and how it has been used in leading investment organisations.

This talk is part of the Business Briefing Series, Cambridge Judge Business School series.
