Every day millions of people are taking medicines which are not effective for their specific disease. Some widely used drugs are often truly beneficial only on a small percentage of the population. Personalised medicine aims to develop and prescribe medications that are active on the one-patient, focusing on the single person instead of a large study group. This new frontier of medicine is taking into account genetic and environmental factors among the others, opening new perspectives for cancer and rare diseases as well as widely diffused disorders.
