If you have a question about this talk, please contact Dr. Ros McLellan. This talk has been canceled/deleted This seminar presents results from a large-scale, multi-phased, mixed-method research that seeks to examine young people’s wellbeing in Kazakhstan. In the first part of this seminar Dr. Daniel Torrano, Dr. Ros McLellan and Dr. Liz Winter will put forward a statistically ratified model of psychological and overall wellbeing, which has been developed over several phases of fieldwork in Kazakhstan, in order to prompt a discussion of its strengths and limitations. The second part of the seminar will be presented by Dr. Eva Brown Hajdukova who will reflect on the emergent themes of young people’s discourses on wellbeing in order to expose the factors young people perceive to be important in their lives. The combined approaches of large-scale and detailed analyses will be the central focus of this seminar in order to promote an integrated approach to representing and assessing young people’s wellbeing that combines both sensitivity and overall validity. From 2015 the Faculty of Education and Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education have partnered to examine young people’s wellbeing and school engagement in secondary schools in Kazakhstan. Funding is provided by the Newton-Al-Farabi Partnership Programme www.britishcouncil.kz/newton-al-farabi and coordinated by the JSC Science Fund and the British Council. Open Event: All welcome.
