This breakfast session will examine putting together a public relations campaign and will include writing press releases and media relations. Building and maintaining a good reputation is vital for business growth and core to achieving this is through well-managed public relations (PR). PR helps organisations to achieve their objectives by creating the right positioning and messaging and communicating effectively with key audiences. In a digital age there are now more ways to engage with these audiences. An integrated PR campaign will include both indirect communication through media relations and direct through events, conferences, online and social media. This session will focus on how to create an integrated PR campaign, led by Rachel Holdsworth of Holdsworth Associates, a Cambridge-based agency that specialises in supporting technology, healthcare and lifescience businesses. It will then focus on one aspect of your PR campaign – dealing with the press. Paul Casciato from Cheary & Gallagher will give you some pointers on how to prepare to deliver clear and convincing ideas to journalists. Despite the proliferation of social media and other channels, the press release remains an important communications tool. Richard Blackburn of Energi Technical Marketing will conclude the session with some hints and tips on how to write a good press release.
