Lara Pawson, freelance writer and former Press Fellow (2006), will talk about her recently published book: “On 27th May 1977, a faction of the MPLA , the ruling party of Angola, rose up against the leadership. Some called it an attempted coup, others said it was a demonstration that was met with a brutal overreaction. In the weeks and months that followed, thousands of people were killed. These dreadful reprisals are little talked of in Angola today – and virtually unknown outside the country…”
