Counting your way to Quantum Groups

Part of the TMS Symposium

We will start by looking at how counting certain sequences of maps allows us to define a multiplication on the isomorphism classes of objects of a category with some conditions. From there, we will introduce some quantum groups and describe how the algebras obtained through counting give rise to these.
