Obstruction theories measure the singularities of a moduli space, giving
rise to notions of virtual dimension, and virtual numbers of points.
Bloch defined a semiregularity map on the obstruction space of any LCI
embedding in a smooth scheme. I will indicate how this map is related to
the Goodwillie-Jones Chern character in K-theory. As a consequence, it
annihilates all obstructions, giving smaller obstruction theories.
