It is no secret that health systems are facing cuts around the world. While this has been handled in different ways in different locations, the best systems will see this as a chance to develop innovative policies to address issues instead of simply cutting services and access. In this talk, we will discuss some controversial programmes which purport to be helping, spend time debating alternatives to these solutions and consider whether these options are creating opportunities for better services or merely anecdotes being sold to the public.
