If you have a question about this talk, please contact Hannah Mowat. The Cambridge Screen Media Group proudly presents: a screening of filmmaker Lucia Yandoli’s new short film, ‘Love Letter’. Synopsis: The film tells a simple story of love, summertime and youth. As Kerrie reads aloud Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18 (‘shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?’) in her English class, she remembers her own agonizing summer, from the day she discovers she’s pregnant to a final day of reckoning. It ends on an ambiguous note, leaving the viewer to ponder whether Kerrie goes through with the pregnancy or not. Over the course of the story we see Kerrie shoot short pieces of film on her mobile phone and this actual footage, small and pixelated, appears in the transitions from one scene to the next as a reminder that things often look very different from the inside. The work is intended as a provocation for us to empathize with those who face the agonizing dilemma of whether to give life or deny it, without judging either way. For more information about the film project as a whole, take a look at http://www.indiegogo.com/love-letter.
