The German artist Christoph Schlingensief (1960-2010) developed aesthetic forms similar to conceptions of transcendence. In order to examine these forms, the talk will deal with the notion of “das Kunstreligiöse” (an aethetic category, based on Schleiermacher’s and Hegel’s “Kunstreligion”) in his last theatre works:

“Fluxus-Oratorium. Eine Kirche der Angst vor dem Fremden in mir”, “Mea Culpa. Eine Ready-Made-Opera”, “Unsterblichkeit kann töten. Sterben lernen. Herr Andersen stirbt in 60 Minuten” and “Operndorf Afrika”.
