Speak Bio: Professor Dr. Phoebe Koundouri, is a pioneer in human-centric, interdisciplinary systems for the sustainable interaction between nature, society, and economy. A University of Cambridge MPhil and PhD, who has held academic positions in Cambridge, UCL , LSE, University of Reading, now Economics Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Technical University of Denmark. She is included in the Stanford University list top 2% world scientists (17 books, 650 published peer reviewed papers). She is President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE), Chair of the World Council of Environmental Resource Economists Associations, Chair of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Global Climate Hub, Co-chair of SDSN Europe (900 universities members). She founded and directs AE4RIA : Alliance of Excellence for Research and Innovation in Aephoria (200 researchers, 100+ interdisciplinary research projects, 6 continents). She acts as an advisor to UN, G20 , World Bank, European Commission, EIB , EBRD, OECD , WHO, Lancet COVID19 Commission, Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, and many high level fora, including UN General Assembly, Climate and Biodiversity COPs, G20 , World Economic Forum, Climate Weeks around the world, on science-based and stakeholder co-designed sustainability transition . Her numerous scientific honors, include the European Research Council ERC Synergy Grant, Academy of Athens Best Scientist Award, elected member Academia Europae, European Academy of Sciences and Arts, World Academy of Art and Science (and trustee), Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World, EAERE Fellow, EFI (European Forest Institute) Fellow, member of the Nominating Committee for the Nobel Prize in Economics.
