Speaker: Visiting in person! – Dr Sophie Morse (Imperial College London)

Bio/Abstract: Dr Sophie Morse is an Imperial College Research Fellow and an Emerging Leader at the UK Dementia Research Institute at Imperial. Her expertise lies in the areas of biomedical engineering and therapeutic ultrasound technology. In this talk, she will be showing how ultrasound can be used to non-invasively modulate the activity of glial cells as well as how ultrasound, in combination with microbubbles, can temporarily open the blood-brain barrier to allow drugs into the brain. Her research group focuses on developing non-invasive ultrasound technology to help promote healthy brain ageing and treat brain diseases.
