“Cloud computing” is one of the hottest buzzwords in the software world, but it is often discussed in only a vague and abstract manner. We will attempt to clear up some of the confusion about what cloud computing is. We will also discuss its historical context, the technologies that enable it, and the directions in which it seems to be going.
