Abstract
Our speaker next week is Professor Sian Dutton, a Cambridge physicist and solid-state chemist from the Maxwell centre. Her group aims to prepare and characterize functional materials to explore energy applications such as electrodes, magnetocalorics and hybrid photovoltaics. She is also the director of the Winton Programme for the Physics of Sustainability, which aims to develop innovative technologies required for future renewable energy systems.
This talk will focus on the magnetic frustration seen in lanthanum oxides and how these could be tuned into easy-to-handle alternatives to liquid Helium cooling methods.
If interested, join us for a drinks reception at 18:00 in the department of Chemistry’s Wolfson lecture theatre before an 18:15 start. We hope to see you there!
