George Freeman (https://www.georgefreeman.co.uk/) has written and spoken widely on the potential of Britain’s science and innovation economy to support a sustainable economic recovery and unlock trade and inward investment opportunities . Before becoming a Conservative MP he worked in venture capital for the biomedical industry. In Parliament, he got the nickname of ‘high tech Hezza’ and was appointed the first UK Minister for Life Sciences at the Department of Health and the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). He is a co-founder of the 2020 group of conservative MPs (which he describes as the ‘radical progressive centre ground’ of the Conservative Party.) Professor Nigel Slater is an Emeritus Professor of Chemical Engineering, Life Fellow at Fitzwilliam, and the Qiushi Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Zhejiang. He is a former Pro-Vice Chancellor and Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at Cambridge, where he held the Chair of Chemical Engineering 1999 from 2000 to 2020.
