Abstract
To round off a fantastic term of BioAnth Seminars, on Wednesday 2nd December from 4-5:30pm we will be holding our first PhD research seminar of the year, to which you are warmly invited!
Speakers will include some of our new PhD students speaking about their recent MPhil projects, as well as soon-to-finish or recently finished PhD students presenting their work.
We have set our speakers the challenge of explaining their research in just 5 minutes, followed by questions from the audience.

Laura van Holstein: âRed Queens, Jacks of all trades, and Court Jesters: the evolutionary ecology of hominin speciationâ Jamie Scott: âRock, Paper, Cleavers: A novel experimental protocol for investigating the cognition of lithic manufactureâ Bram Mulder: âCortical and trabecular bone structure in the human limbs: skeletal morphology as a proxy for behaviour?â James Clark: âWhat can we infer about handaxe reduction strategies from their shape?â Ella Brown: ‘Of Mice, Macaques and Men: Inter-specific trabecular bone variation in the mandibular condyleâ Frances St George-Hyslop: âUsing stem cell-derived cortical neurons to study human brain evolutionâ Keaghan Yaxley: Title TBC Jason Gellis: Title TBC The talks will be held on Zoom, and as usual please sign up in advance via the link circulated by email. Please note the earlier start time of 4pm, and that this event is only open to members of the Department of Archaeology and invited guests.
