If you have a question about this talk, please contact Peter Robinson. FRETTTING FATIGUE : Damage due to fretting fatigue is a major concern in gas turbine engines. We have focused on the development of crack initiation approach which could be utilized to predict/estimate the service life of components subjected to fretting fatigue. BONDED PATCH REPAIR : Cracking is a common failure mode in structural components. Their efficient and reliable repair before their complete failure is needed. This research focused on the characterization of adhesively bonded composite patch to repair a cracked structural component along with development of finite element based simple method to predict the fatigue life. CERAMICS MATRIX COMPOSITES : This research focused on characterization of fatigue life of ceramics matrix composites under combustion and related environments at elevated temperature (700 ~ 1200 deg C). These materials are needed for several elevated temperature applications. NANOCOMPOSITES : This part of presentation will present our research effort on characterization of nano-composites using nano-indentation and atomic force microscopy.
