AstraZeneca is a global pharmaceutical company that produced some of the most used cancer drugs and is now relocating to Cambridge. As the distance between industry and academic institutions is shrinking, AstraZeneca is looking to promote more interaction and foster new research collaborations. We will give an overview of how AstraZeneca is utilizing bioinformatics to help develop the next generation of drugs to treat cancer. As computational biologists with both industry and academia experience, we will also compare research environments in the two sectors.
