The world of scientific publishing, as well as the role of individual scientists in disseminating science is changing rapidly. Many of our members have questions about what is the best way to approach this shifting landscape if one is just starting an academic career. Because of his experience in both traditional and open source publishing, as well as the use of social media to augment the process, Chris Surridge from Nature Publishing Group is the perfect person to talk to us about what the future of publishing will be, and what do current PhDs need to do to ensure that they take an active part in creating this future.
