The talk covers the background and “pitch” of a financial technology startup, SilverOak. Founded by a Darwinian and fellow Cambridge students, SilverOak believes the key for emerging markets betterment is through small to medium size enterprises (SMEs); SMEs generate 65% of new jobs in the US.

SilverOak (SO) applies an existing model (crowdfunding lending) to a new geography (cross-border EM, beginning in India). SO uses invoice financing to help SMEs who suffer from onerous terms from multinationals.

This talk is part of the Darwin College Humanities and Social Sciences Seminars series.
