Laurie Friday will talk about the work of the Cambridge Centre for Landscape Regeneration. The Fens of East Anglia are at a cross-roads: will the current practices of systematic drainage and open-field arable production be possible in a future dominated by rising sea-level,  uncertain water supply and a continuing loss of biodiversity? Or are alternative scenarios possible whereby water is managed differently for the benefit of nature, for keeping the peat in the soil, and at the same time allowing for food production and thriving communities?

This talk is part of the Cambridge Natural History Society series.
