This week, the book club starts a new book. David MacKay’s

Information Theory, Inference, and Learning Algorithms (ITILA)

This week’s first meeting will be partly devoted to administrative issues. The time slot for future sessions will be fixed and formats for the sessions agreed. David’s book is written in a quite different style than the books we discussed previously: Chapters are short, with lots of exercises. The format of the book club will mirror this by focusing more on examples and exercises.

In the remaining time, we will discuss chapter 1 (pages 1 to 21), in particular exercises 1.6 and 1.8

If you cannot make it to the meeting but would be interested to attend regularly if it were at a different time, please indicate your interest by entering a vote at this poll

This talk is part of the Machine Learning Journal Club series.
