For our second lecture of Lent term, we are excited to welcome Professor Stephen Belcher, who was appointed Met Office Chief Scientist in 2016. In this position, he is responsible for the leading the 600-strong Met Office’s scientific programme. He led the evolution of the Met office Hadley Centre to focus on climate science and services, and was the driving force behind the initiation of the Newton Fund Climate Science for Service Partnership China.

Prof Belcher obtained his PhD in fluid dynamics from the University of Cambridge in 1990, becoming a research fellow at Stanford and Cambridge Universities and later at the University of Reading.

This promises to be a talk not to miss!
