Observations of the solar corona: a journey from the past to the future
- đ¤ Speaker: Dr Giulio Del-Zanna
- đ Date & Time: Tuesday 23 January 2018, 19:45 - 21:30
- đ Venue: Wolfson Lecture Theatre, Department of Chemistry
Abstract
Dr Del-Zanna will briefly present some observations of the solar corona, from the early days when it was only observed during eclipses in the visible, to recent space missions in the X-rays and UV. He will explain how future observatories will tackle the main science questions, and how the (still mostly unexplored) visible/infrared region of the solar spectrum is receiving a lot of attention.
