If you have a question about this talk, please contact Sebastian Gibson.

We are joined by Philippe Mouly, Chief Operating Director of Eurostar.

Eurostar is the only high speed train that directly links the UK to France and Belgium via the Channel Tunnel. Since 1994, Eurostar has more than doubled the total number of passengers travelling (whether by air or train) between London and Paris and Brussels.

The trains reach a maximum speed of 300km per hour (that’s 186 miles per hour) on the high speed lines in the UK, France and Belgium. With regular journey times of 2 hours 12 minutes between London to Paris and 2 hours 1 minute between London to Brussels.

Philippe is responsible for delivering the entire operation and no doubt shall provide a most interesting and engaging talk on the company.

The talk is followed by a Members Formal at Sidney Sussex College – places are only £10 and are strictly limited. Please email the CURC for further details.

The presentation, Q&A session open to the floor and dinner is a perfect chance to talk to Philippe about Eurostar, or even specific graduate opportunities in the design and construction. (You can also ask about the trains!) .....................................................

About the CURC :

Founded in 1911 from the Cambridge University branch of The Railway Club, the CURC is the second oldest railway enthusiast club in Britain! The CURC tries to arrange an event in Cambridge every week during Full Term. On most Wednesdays or Fridays this involves an invited speaker giving an illustrated talk on a specific subject, and this is almost always a professional from the rail industry or preservation. We’ve had big names in the past, including senior managers from several Train Operating Companies.

We also visit railway sites termly including depots, signalling centres and industrial railways for members.

We give you a chance to meet the top employers from across the industry and have huge success in our members going onto top Graduate employment within the railway industry…whether HS2 , Balfour Beatty, Crosscountry, Network Rail, DfT etc…

Membership for students costs £10 per year or £25 for life membership. You can pay an annual membership now and upgrade to life later – and life does mean life. We charge £3 at the door for non-members, upon your third entry to a talk (first two talks are free). So come and try us out for free, gain exclusive access to key railway professionals and depots and you might just want to become a member! (We won’t tell anyone you are ;) )

This talk is part of the Cambridge University Railway Club series.
