Ever wondered how you can make the biggest difference in the world?

Fill in the form to apply for a place on our Effective Altruism: Cambridge introductory discussion group series. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfxVanRqaVMmHiHgUaEVZk3CfgT8Vq8ulZld6jsX4_rPazN4w/viewform

This is a great opportunity to learn more about Effective Altruism, and about what we and our sister organisations (80,000 Hours, Giving What We Can, Future of Sentience Cambridge) do. We will also provide free pizza, snacks and (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) drinks.

New people are particularly welcome! You can read a brief introduction to what Effective Altruism is at https://www.effectivealtruism.org/.

The discussion groups will take place on Monday evenings running for 4 weeks from October 24th -November 13th. They will be in the JCR of Jesus College starting at 6pm.

Why sign up? - We will discuss important and challenging questions like: “How much should we care about people in the future vs people now?”, “How can some charities be 1000 times more effective than others?”, and “How can we do the most good?” - This will be a great way to meet like-minded people in a relaxed environment with pizza and drinks.

Group discussions will last around 60-75 minutes, with each group chaired by an Effective Altruism: Cambridge committee member. Afterwards, you can stay for more informal discussion and drinks. In advance of each session, we will email you a short reading with all the key information needed to ensure everyone can participate fully in the discussion. To keep groups consistent between weeks we want people to be available to come to most or all of the discussions if possible, but don’t worry if something unexpected comes up or you decide after trying the groups that they are not for you.

The deadline to apply is midnight on Saturday 21st October, and we will confirm your place as soon as possible. Places are limited so if you can no longer attend, please let us know via email.
