If you have a question about this talk, please contact kbs27. Science entrepreneur Justin Hall-Tipping, CEO of Nanoholdings LLC and ‘Energy Evangelist’ of TED Global fame, believes in the power of technological innovation in overcoming present and future energy and water shortages that short-term decision-making is causing and will continue to cause. Cutting edge nano-technology research offers the prospect of significant decarbonation and decentralization of energy generation, potentially changing the landscape of power distribution substantially. From game-changing breakthroughs in energy generation and energy storage, to production of pure drinking water, Nanoholdings’ breakthroughs are already making tomorrow’s headlines. Justin holds a BSc in International Finance and Banking from City University, London, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a seasoned venture capitalist, serving as managing director and partner for SG Capital Partners, and as a partner for NEPA Venture Fund, specialising in start-up companies. In 2000 Justin was inspired to reorient his expertise towards eco-innovation after seeing the B-15 iceberg calving into the Ross Sea, and Nanoholdings LLC was born. Since then Justin has worked tirelessly to assemble his team of experts, and spoke on the subject of his work at the TED Global conference in 2011.
