Cardiovascular and respiratory disease commonly co-occur, however diagnosis, management and disease progression is often more difficult in the presence of co-morbidity. Drawing on work done in routinely collected electronic health records, I will discuss challenges in studying common cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, focusing in particular on MI and COPD .
