If you have a question about this talk, please contact Jamie Fox. “We will present an overview of observations of chaotic motion in Stokes flows. Properties of low dimensional chaos and Stokes flows will be introduced using demonstrations to highlight pertinent points. This will be followed by a discussion of an apparently simple system of spheres in syrup which exhibits low counterintuitive phenomena embedded with its rich solution structure.” Professor Mullin is Professor of Physics at the University of Manchester and Director of the Manchester Centre for Nonlinear Dynamics. His primary research interests are in bifurcation phenomena in viscous flow fluids. This talk is part of the Stokes Society, Pembroke College series.
