This talk centres on the importance of tuna fisheries at the international level but more specifically in the Western Indian Ocean and more broadly, contested marine space and other resources – oil and gas and potentially seabed minerals. Geopolitics is another dimension – the roles of France, the EU, China and India and other Asian states in the region. Who are the beneficiaries?
