If you have a question about this talk, please contact Odette Rogers. The recent Spanish municipal elections is being discussed all around Europe. The rise of 2 new parties and the changes in the democratic configurations in a time of crisis might result in a long term restructuring of the Spanish democracy or what is being called ‘la segunda Transición’. This roundtable intends to discuss the following: 1) General discussion of the election results 2) What does this portend for the upcoming general election? 3) What are the repercussion for European Institutions? 4) How is this lined up with what is happening in Greece? We will have 3 speakers that will introduce their views on these questions, with general discussion to follow: - Thomas Jeffrey Miley, Professor, University of Cambridge - Gonzalo Velasco Arias, Professor, Universidad Camilo José Cela - Vangelis Georgas, final year PhD student in Sociology This talk is part of the Department of Sociology Seminar Series series.
