The Humanitarian Centre is delighted to invite you to our ‘Justice within Reach – How the Law can Empower’ webinar which will take place on the World Day of Social Justice. This online event, focusing on the right to justice, brings together leading legal professionals who have worked across South Africa, The Gambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo to share their experiences of how the law and increased legal awareness can empower individuals to understand and claim their rights. The event will last only an hour and focus around four keynote speakers. Each speaker will focus 10 minutes on her/his area of experience of how the law can be used to empower individuals. At the end there will be 20 minutes time for discussion and a Q&A session. Registration: For online participation, please follow the instructions found on this link. Schedule: 17:00 – 17:10 – Brief Introduction to the event & speakers 17:10 – 17:50 – Speech of keynote speakers, each approximately 10 minutes long. 17:50 – 18:10 – Discussion and Q&A session Our Chair: Dr John Barker, Director of Cambridge Governance Labs Confirmed Speakers: Isabel Magaya: Representative of the Policy > Action Network (PAN). Isabel will be joining us from South Africa. Theodore Menelik: Founder of Menelik Education. Theodore will be joining us from here in the UK. Meghan Waters: Founder of the West African Law Institute (WALI). Meghan will be joining us from Colombia. About us: This event is organised by the Humanitarian Centre with support from the Institute of Continuing Education.
