If you have a question about this talk, please contact Mark Nelson. The entry of women to Higher Education from the latter part of the 19th century is best understood in the broader context of their struggle to gain admission to many other activities previously reserved exclusively for men, including the professions and political life. However the emphasis of this talk will be on often-neglected features of their struggle rather than, for example, the suffragettes whose travails are already well documented. This talk is open to the public and all members of the university community and will be followed by drinks. This talk is part of the Pembroke Papers, Pembroke College series.
