Abstract: From the Great Fire to the Blitz, the City of London has survived and rebuilt itself, but how will today’s challenges impact on it and how will the City respond? John Robertson Architects’ investigations into how the City has responded over the centuries to changes in how we live and work has inspired a vision for a future City of London; a de-carbonised, pedestrian-focused but largely preserved City core with new types and mixes of activities and improved connections to neighbouring areas. John Robertson has worked in the City for more than 20 years and will present his vision of London’s future. Biography: John Robertson founded John Robertson Architects in 1993 and has overseen the growth of the company into an AJ100 practice with an extensive list of high profile clients. Having dedicated the last 20 years to designing for central London, John has developed particular expertise in and understanding of the refurbishment and redevelopment of its buildings and has been responsible for over 100,000 sqm of office buildings in the City of London. John is an active member of the British Council for Offices and a member of the City Architecture Forum.
