“The Good, The Bad and the Algae” Prof Chris Howe, working on the biochemistry and molecular evolution of photosynthetic organisms, is studying ways of manipulating the photosynthetic machinery of Algae in renewable energy production. He is part of the Algal Biotechnology Consortium based in Cambridge.

“Wind Power: Power for the future or a scam” Dr Richard McMahon, a Senior Lecturer in Electrical Engineering, will be talking about the fastest growing form of power generation in many countries – Wind power. He will be speaking about the basis of wind power, his research into low maintenance generators for wind turbines and how the industry is trying to secure its future.
