I review the basic motivation for using galaxy clusters as a precision cosmology probe, and for cluster cosmology with photometric surveys in particular. I summarize current cosmological constraints from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, placing an emphasis on how the Planck Early Results impact the interpretation of optically and X-ray selected galaxy clusters. I end by discussing ongoing work aimed at improving these cosmological constraints, and extending these analyses to future cluster surveys, particularly the Dark Energy Survey.
