If you have a question about this talk, please contact Edward Mather. Members of Lucy Cavendish College and the local community are warmly invited to the launch of the latest psychological thriller by Sophie Hannah, ‘Kind of Cruel’. Synopsis: ‘Amber Hewerdine knows more than she is telling. She knows that she hasn’t slept since the arson attack which killed her best friend. She knows that it is not normal for four members of your family to disappear without warning or explanation one Christmas morning, and then to return two days later and never speak of it again. And she knows that somewhere, buried deep in her subconscious, is the key to what happened all those years ago at Little Orchard. Kind, Cruel, Kind of Cruel. These are the words she keeps coming back to. But what do they mean? And why is she arrested within hours of saying them, for the murder of a woman she’s never heard of…’ Sophie will read extracts from the novel and talk about the inspirations and ideas behind it. The talk forms one of Lucy Cavendish College’s Women’s Word events for 2011/12 and will take place from 6 -7.00pm in the Woodlegh Seminar Room, Strathaird, Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge. Booking is essential for this free event and can be made by emailing Edward Mather on eam44@cam.ac.uk. This talk is part of the Lucy Cavendish College public lecture series series.
