If you have a question about this talk, please contact Mustapha Amrani. Inverse Problems The deformation of an image so that its appearance more closely matches that of another image (image registration) has applications in many fields, from medical image analysis through evolutionary biology and fluid dynamics to astronomy. Over recent years there has been a great deal of interest in smooth, invertible (i.e., diffeomorphic) warps, not least because the underlying Euler-Poincare PDEs are geodesic equations on the diffeomorphism group with respect to a group-invariant metic. In this talk I will summarise the work in the field from the inverse problems point of view and highlight areas of future work. This talk is part of the Isaac Newton Institute Seminar Series series.
