Professor Miles will analyse how the financial crisis is dramatically transforming the UK housing and mortgage markets. He will consider the transitional and long-run impacts of a reduced supply of high loan to value ratio mortgages. Alternative forms of equity financing of house purchase will be analysed and their impact on risk-sharing and home-ownership patterns explored. Miles also considers the impact of changing patterns of financing and of owner-occupation upon the way in which monetary policy is operated.
