Abstract
What do pure mathematicians do? And, whatever it is, is it useful? In this talk, I aim to answer these questions by looking at an example: infinity. Does it exist? Is there anything bigger? And why should we care?
Dr Brambley, a fellow of Gonville & Caius and a former undergraduate and graduate of Pembroke, is an applied mathematician currently working on sound in aircraft engines.
Series This talk is part of the Pembroke Papers, Pembroke College series.
