Jon Blair is the only director of documentaries working in Britain to have won all three of the premier awards in his field: an Oscar and an Emmy for ‘Anne Frank Remembered’, another Emmy for ‘Reporters at War’ and a BAFTA for ‘Schindler’. His most recent film, ‘Dancing with the Devil’, set in Rio de Janeiro’s notorious favelas, is an intimate exploration of that city’s drug-fuelled civil war. It is also the first film ever to show Rio’s top drug lords without disguises or blurring.
